Hey guys, just wanted to drop a note saying that I will be leaving today for my big move from IL to AZ. I will be on the road for 3 days and may not be able to post updates or answer e-mail. I will try to post as I will be driving with only my Olympus E-PL1 (see at Adorama or B&H Photo) and 17 2.8 strapped around my neck. The Leicas are all packed away until Thursday and will be un-packed for my upcoming review of the new 35 Summilux ASPH. I can not wait for that one 🙂 I also have some other cool stuff on the way to my house in AZ so as soon as I am settled the updates will be pouring out of me 🙂 Until then, I will leave you with one I shot with the Oly and the 17 yesterday!
“The Auctioneer” – Olympus E-Pl1 and 17 2.8 at 2.8. Converted to B&W with Nik SIlver Efex Pro
Col. Paul Gibson, Auctioneer in a small town since 1972. He was working hard on this 92 degree humid day and as he stood in his auction cab on the back of his truck I asked if I could take his portrait. Small towns have live auctions 2-3 times every single week, many times on location at homes, businesses or in an “Auction Barn”. Paul when to Auction school when he was 16 and now in his 50’s he still has a crazy passion for his business. He may be tired, but he sure can sell his ass off.
This was shot as JPEG and ORF but the image below is the JPEG, resized and converted. I have to say, I still LOVE the combo of the E-PL1 and 17 2.8. There is a unique rendering of this combo that always pleases me more than any other lens on this camera to date. B&H PHOTO sells the body only for only $509. Great little camera.
I made it, now in my new home. Unloaded truck and today will be spent unpacking and getting settled, Right now my Imac is on the kitchen counter and I am surrounded by boxes 🙂 So much fun huh? NOT!
Ah, I love the smell of sahuaro in the morning…welcome to Arizona
Wow, didn’t even know you were moving… I must have missed that! Good luck with the move!
I could live with New Zealand, as long as I can wake up to palm trees and have more then pine trees and snow to photograph then Im on my way. Just have to finish college first, then pay all that fun fun tuition.
cracking shot, thank you for sharing
(really like your website/blog with constant updates, I had a good look through your reviews the other day, you are an inspiration for photo blogging, shooting, and the PEN idea)

Have a safe trip back Steve. I can’t believe you packed away the MP though!! I never leave the M9 out of my site! Hehe.
Remember to lift with the legs, not the back! 🙂
