The Best Beard Oil you can Buy in 2025! For real!

Last year I wrote an article about my favorite beard oil on earth for 2024. This article came to be after I spent thousands of dollars trying nearly all brands of beard oil to find what I liked the best in scent, conditioning, feel in beard as well as hold and just overall “cool factor”. After trying so many brands both big and small, big box and hand crafted small batch I picked my favorite for 2024 as Black Rebel Beard Co.
They were my fave for 2024 because of their incredible scents, artwork, conditioning, hold and well these products were so premium in ingredients that my beard was always soft, manageable and smelling amazing.
The range of products at Black Rebel are very unique compared to most beard oil companies. In fact the beard oil blend uses Ostrich Oil as the main ingredient and let me tell you… it’s pretty freaking awesome for our beards and skin as well. For 2025 Black Rebel added even more new ingredients that is said to help with growth as well. The beard tallow butter is improved again and is so good at conditioning my beard. The beard balm, wash and conditioner as well as cologne, soap and mustache wax are all 100% top quality.

I am happy to report that Black Rebel made further improvements in 2025 to their oil formula as well as their wash, butter and almost everything else. They have crafted an all new mainline for 2025 which means there are 11 new scents available that have been refined and reformed. The ones I have tried so far (I now have them ALL) smell like no other beard products I have tried. It’s the quality that not only works well for your beard but is also a stunning elixer for my skin. I’ve never used beard oils and butters that improved the look of my skin yet here we are and these do.
In life I always had problem skin, even into my 50’s, but for the last two years I have not had any issues. I cannot say it is the Black Rebel products but just so happens to have improved since I started using these oils and butters. I do know that ostrich oil is said to have properties for improving skin, so it all adds up to me!
OMG this Bullit scent of the month is AMAZING! So fresh, light and has lasting power as well. Each month a new special scent arrives in oil, balm, butter, cologne, wash and conditioner.
Let’s face it. Big Box stores sell beard oil but those brands are sometimes the worst for your skin and beard. Even the premium brands like Cremo, Jack Black and others are not very good for your skin or beard. The scents are lackluster as well.
Some of these brands, often times, have chemicals in them and I much prefer a more natural beard product that is not only good for my beard but for my skin as well. When testing many brands there were even some well known craft brands that irritated my skin, had me breaking out and one of them gave me a rash all over my face and head just from their shampoo and beard wash. The crazy thing is they were crazy expensive as well, to the tune of $42 for oil, $45 for wash, etc. They were not very good, not compared to Black Rebel.
I simply can not find any beard oils or products that match the quality of Black Rebel. I have tried and spent so much money to do so.
What doesn’t fit on the shelf on my wall goes here. Can you tell I am a beard oil addict? I also have many bottles of cologne as well as balm and butters. Old faves reside here like Dylan, Baja Cruiser, Rad Dad and others.
The new formula from Black Rebel keeps my beard perfectly soft and my skin soft and clear as well. I love this.
My Beard in 2025. On this day I had in the new formula from Black Rebel in their “Bullit” scent from their SOTM for January 2025. My beard here is about 7 months of growth for me. Trying to go for the Yeard in 2025!
MY FAVE FOR 2025
For 2025 Black Rebel Beard Co is my #1 favorite beard product company once again as they have now vastly improved their oil blend once again.
It continues on with the Ostrich Oil base and they have now added a blend for beard growth, which the owner of Black Rebel himself says he doesn’t even believe in lol, but I think it is doing something.
He did this new growth formula addition due to customer requests and time will tell if this works for growth but I can state now that this new blend is the most awesome feeling in beard of any oil I have ever tried, even 2024 Black Rebel. My beard does appear fuller when I use these oils, butter or balms here. I have tried to find better but honestly, I could not.
The scent of the month for Feb 2025. One of the reasons this brand is so freaking cool.
I have started to test the new 2025 Mainline scents from Black Rebel as Pedro (Owner of BR) says he did this to create something new and special for his customers. Instead of just taking the faves from the scent of the month features and placing them in the mainline as he did in the past, Pedro created a new theme for the mainline. He also said he worked hard on each one to make it the best it could be and holy heck, he has.
There is new packaging and new artwork that ties the entire mainline together and this is awesome to see as it seperates the mainline scents that are always available from the more limited edition monthly scents.

As of feb 2025 I have tested all of the new Mainline. The Seasmoke, The Misfit, the Sonoramic, The Savage, The Hypnosis, The Harvester, The Drifter, The Warhorse, The Ramrod, The Mifit, The Maverick and the Commando.
So yes, I have now tried them all and I have to be 100% honest here..they are so good.
Here are my thoughts on the new 2025 Black Rebel Beard Oil lineup….
The SONORAMIC
Wow, what a scent! This is a combo of 1 Million Lucky and Sandalwood but what I can say is that this is one of the most complex and luxurious scents I have ever experienced in a beard oil. Just trust me on this one…it’s FIRE and one I will be restocking in oil, butter and cologne, probably wash and conditioner as well. My wife LOVES this one and it originated a while back at Black Rebel as “The Leprechaun” but it has been further improved. This one is a must and check out the reviews at the Black Rebel site! The MISFIT
This is a classic barbershop scent but holy wow, it’s on a next level vs any other I have tried. Usually these kind of scents can be too strong with the powder/talc scent but this one has some magic within it. This one is mixed with aqua di gio, barbershop and bayrum and it has replaced the legendary scent “CASH” in the lineup. Cash was my fave all time beard oil scent and this one sits right behind it, well…almost. This is a cleaner scent than Cash and many may prefer this one but I still have 3 bottles of CASH on hand, and will use it. When all done, this will replace it. The Seasmoke
Oh yes. Pedro took one of my fave scents from 2024 “The Lost Boys” (dropped as a special drop) and mixed it with an old fave called “Rambler” which in reality smells a lot like “The Yeti” but different in some ways. When together along with whatever else Pedro did it makes for what may be the finest aqua type of scent crafted for our beard. Aqua with some slight smokiness indeed. This is an incredible fresh scent and one that had me receive compliment from a lady while out with my wife! She walked by and said “wow, you smell so good” and my wife looked at me and laughed, knowing it was my beard oil. While taking this photo I dropped my bottle and 80% of the oil spilled to the floor. The Warhorse
This one is a refinement and change up of the brands well known and loved “The Wild One” along with an OG scent from back in the day called “COMP GOLD”. I own Wild One and use it rarely as it is so so strong, almost too strong. I am happy to say that the Warhorse is a masterpiece and whatever was done here really smoothed this one out, tamed it…yet it has such an intoxicating manly type of scent and smells even better to me. than the Wild One. This one will also be in my rotation as I feel it is a huge improvement and you can not go wrong with Vanilla Tobacco, a true manly scent. Bravo! The Savage
The Savage is a reworked SASQUATCH and this is good as I loved the OG Sasquatch. This one is close, very close but refined yet again with a somewhat darker vibe. If you loved Sasquatch you will absolutely love The Savage as it is even better. It’s a bit of tobacco with birch and some OUD and it has some lasting power as well.. See the Savage HERE.
The Maverick
So one of the scents from 2024 I loved was The Doc Holiday. It has a sweet smoky leather vibe but light on the leather. I loved the smoke of Holiday and Maverick is sort of an off shoot of this one to my nose, but yes, even better and much smoother. It’s more refined and not an exact natch to the old Doc but I like this one more and it’s a flat out bonafide winner. I will be wearing this one often, especially in the cooler months. Black Rebel says this is like a mix of Tom Ford cologne and their OG fave “Leatherface” with no mention of “Doc Holiday”. Even so, it reminds me of Doc, but much better. This one may be more of an evolution of Leatherface, which I never had the chance to try but many love it. 100% highly recommended! The Harvester
Back in 2024 I bought “The Reaper” and found it to be way too strong for my nose. It had that OUD funk, big time. It was my least used scent from BR and the all new Harvester is an off shoot of The Reaper but OMG, so much better in all ways as it is also mixed with an older scent that was a fan fave. It’s lighter yet still has punch and is like a sporty cologne type of scent. It is manly as can be but yet also my wife LOVES it. I have only worn this once so far but it will be in rotation with the rest of the new mainline as I have not found one I do not like which is unusual. Another refined and smooth WINNER. The Drifter
This one is a mix up of The Yetti and Megalodon, which was a favorite in 2024. A mix of cool water and Yetti bring a renewed experience and the two together, along with whatever else was done here made this one smooth as can be while being refreshing, light and yet powerful all at the same time. Very cool smelling and very aquatic. Between this and SeaSmoke I have my “Aqua” scents covered and I enjoy both. Both are 10/10 and worth owning. If you like more wintery, the drifter is nice. If you like smooth as can be and even more complex, The Seasmoke it is. Overall, the Drifter for me bests both Yetti and Megalodon, both of which I still have here. I used to and still do love the old “Baja Cruiser” and while this one is nothing like it, I will not miss Baja with this on my shelf. You can check out The Drifter HERE.
The Ramrod
This one is for the Leather fans out there. This one is described as a “biker leather” with some sweetness and that is just about what I get from it. I am not a huge all leather scent oil fan. I did not love the older “The Waylon” as it was just too much leather scent for me, packed a punch indeed, but my nephew LOVED it so it depends on your likes and dislikes.
This one does have a sweetness and expands in beard so much vs what you smell in bottle. Even so, this one will have you smelling like a biker who is dressed in leather and it is much nicer than The Waylon IMO. Get your leather fix with this one. There is indeed some sweetness here and this makes it super smooth and without the “in your face” punch of some leather scents. The Hypnosis
This is one of my current faves, top 3 for sure as it is so unique and fresh, never smelled anything like it other than last years special scent of the month for Halloween called “The Terrifier”. This one, the Hypnosis, is a mix of Terrifier and the brands OG scent “stargher king”. I smell that Terrifier scent for sure as the main base but it also has a refinement and pop that for me, bests the Terrifier by a little! That is impressive. A must have IMO. The Commando
This one is UNSCENTED for those who cannot deal with scents for whatever reason. Here you can benefit from the top shelf ingredients in this beard oil while not projecting any kind of scent. This is basically a premium ingredient oil, butter or balm for your beard that will keep it soft, manageable and stylish that will allow you to be scent free or even wear your own cologne you love. BULLIT Jan 25 Scent of the Month – The very first scent of 2025 from Black Rebel was “BULLIT” and it is simply incredible. Light, fresh but also smells so so good. My wife loves this one but the new Mainline Sonoramic has hints of this one, but is a touch stronger. I also ordered the new Feb SOTM (scent of the month), Joe Dirt as I know it will be fantastic. Update: It’s so cool, different and just what I think old Joe Dirt would wear, lol.
Another thing I love about this brand is that in addition to the mainline scents, they release a new limited edition every month. Sometimes they even have special drops with unique themes and scents. One thing I like to do is to buy an oil, butter, cologne and wash/conditioner. This saves money on the package deal and I get the full suite of products. The cologne is awesome to have and is more like a real cologne vs other beard companies whose spray scents last minutes vs hours of Black Rebel.
The Tallow Butter 2025
The 2025 Tallow Butter from Black Rebel is firmer in feel when in the tub and still smooth as silk in beard. The scent is also much nicer now as the early tallow butter formula had some tallow smell. Now it is very nice, firm and easy to scoop and apply. All premium ingredients without harsh chemicals that will dry your beard out. I also like to apply this to my skin. Arms, legs, chest, etc during the winter to combat the dry winter itch. It really helps.
When Black Rebel first offered up their new Tallow Butter it had a thin consistency and it took Pedro some time but he has now perfected the Tallow Butter. It’s firm yet soft and when in beard it instantly will soften the beard and leave the amazing scent linger. Gone is the tallow smell from the early Tallow Butter recipe. This one is perfect and has an amazing feel and consistency. It’s not for hold but for softening.
The beard is looking good for an old white coarse hair beard. Black Rebel keeps it soft and healthy bringing optimal conditions for growth. This one is after a year of using BR and 2 weeks of using the new Mainline with updated ingredients. Overall this is a seven month beard for me. Going for the Yeard!
NEW Beard Balm 2025
Black Rebel now calls their OG butter formula their new Balm as this one is thicker and has some wax inside to help with holding down those fly aways. If you need hold the balm is perfect yet also keeps your beard soft. Not as soft and silky as the Tallow Butter as there is some WAX here but it’s a stellar balm. Not too firm, not too soft. I use both to be honest.
On days where I want that bit of hold, it’s the balm. I find that it never feels sticky as well, which is awesome. I can not stand beard balms that make my beard stiff and sticky. While the Tallow Butter feels like nothing in beard (just soft) the Balm is a little thicker and therefore has decent holding properties.
As my beard gets longer the balm is working nicely for daytime outings when I want that hold. Never ever stiffens of mucks up the beard like some can.

Once again Black Rebel has me excited for 2025 as their new mainline range of scents is starting out strong with some of the best smelling beard oil I have ever laid my nose upon. I use their Tallow Soap as well, and it lasts me months, one bar. The wash and conditioner is top quality as well and the wash formula seems to have been improved as well. The wash is thick white vs watery clear now.
The new oil formula is slightly thicker than last year but feels even better in my beard. I also feel as if my beard is fuller looking now, probably due to the new added ingredients meant just to nourish the beard.

Sure, you can buy Beard Oil that costs less but you will not get the quality ingredients, unique style and amazing scents that you get with Black Rebel. You can spend less but remember many oils and beard products are made cheap with chemicals and these can have a negative effect on your beard, growth and softness.
