Server Upgrade!
Just a note to let everyone know that the site will be down for 20-45 minutes this evening as we are switching over to the new server and the final sync may take some time. If you come here and get nothing it just means we are doing the switch. Lately the site has been crashing due to traffic loads at times so the new server is ramped up in CPU, storage, RAM and even will have the database loaded on an SSD drive for speedier load times.
Going from a single processor to a 16 core setup – overkill but hopefully future proof 🙂
The switch is scheduled for 5PM this evening, Phoenix AZ time.
I’m going to buy the NEX-7… I want to start with only one lens. What would you say is the single best all purpose lens to start with for this camera?

Steve. Were you in Vegas two nights ago? I saw a guy who looked exactly like you. Thought you may spent time at the CES. I looked at the X1pro and while I like the overall camera and the viewfinder I didn’t like the feel of the aperture ring. Felt like a worn out ring. The clicks were not pronounced enough. Felt cheap. D!RK
Actually ALL DONE! Ended up doing it at 3pm, took 50 minutes and now its all back up. 🙂
did you build your own server (how are you solving upload connectivity then) or are you using a dedicated one from hosting company? There’s also an amazon hosting service which you can profile depending on demand…
you have probably done numbers so I guess having own server is the cheapest option…
Dammit.. what am I suppose to do for 45 minutes. .Hurry up 😉
