The interchangeable lens version will be made and could well involve a collobaration with Leica. Huge private investment has been made by Leica in recent months and they are keen to increase production and greatly improve the volume of sales so as to create some return on that investment. Leica I believe may well work with Fuji as they have done many times with Panasonic on this new venture, and this will enable Leica to produce cameras in the volume required.
Demand would be enormous and there would then be a rebadged Leica version later in the year. I would expect an adapter for Leica M lenses too, so that the lens quality an be exploited and far cheaper than buying an M 9 body. Beneficial to all concerned

Thank you for the post, I think at that price I would buy a new one anyways.. just a personal thing.

Kay
Could you kindly point me to where you see them for that price!
Thank you in advance.

Sometimes I see them on my local craigslist (Seattle) and GetDPI. The prices fluctuate a bit but on average they are between $950 to $1100.
I wonder if the new stock have the sticky aperture blade problem? I also wonder what X100 sales will be like when the NEX-7 is in stores later this year.
And agreeing with Kay above, there are always a few relatively new X100’s for sale in my local area on Craigslist. Those without all the leather accessories go quickly, for a small discount off new (but no taxes of course).
There are a lot of used ones for under $1K.
You poor Americans!
Here in Thailand you can walk into many camera shops, put down 32 900 Baht (around 1050$) and take the thing home.
No order neccessary, no premium on the price.
I knew why I moved here!

So… an x100 with interchangeable lenses or something there abouts…
My credit card is impatiently standing by.

Like I mentioned before….Fuji is doing what Leica is supposed to do.
I can see an interchangeable version of x100 very soon and it will take a large share of Leica’s market if the quality keeps up with X100. Later, somebody will make the adapter to mount Leica lens on it. (I wish Fuji can make it M-mount…) If it comes with a tag just under 2K, then …….. (not in my dream anymore).
Also, to add. If you are interested in buying the x100, come to Canada. The stores here in Toronto get shipments every couple of weeks.
Well….it’s not rumoured any longer. Fuji did announce that they will have a prototype at CES in January. The question now is, whether it’s larger than FF or just slightly smaller. Regardless, it is great news!!! It’s good to know that Fuji actually gives a damn. If they were to introduce a x200 with interchangeable lenses I would jump on that immediately. The x100 is a fantastic camera!
I doubt that the rumoured ‘interchangeable lens X100’ will surface soon – if at all. Fuji probably does not have either the manufacturing or financial resources to commit to such a niche Leica clone. A Nex type system might be more likely but I doubt the lens availability/quality will match those fitted to the X100. The pricing of a high-end interchangeable lens camera system would likely rival Leica if introduced. Plus, I’d still pursue the X100 option as THE bargain alternative classic Leica M9/35mm f2 Summicron option.
I’ve just returned from Spain, where ISO1600 shots taken within dimly lit interiors like the Great Mosque of Cordoba would put a D3 (or other ‘low-light’ stars) to shame. The M9 + Summicron combo would not stand a chance of creating similar results.
Oh …. while we are on the subject of bargains – the UK is seeing dropping prices for both (in-stock) new kits and lots of eBay near-mint second user X100s. Get your ass (or internet connection) over here if you want one ….
We’re all so impressed with your crystal ball:

Need some windex?
But yeah the X100 should have tied the Pentax 645D for camera of the year. I’m a happy camping Fuji/Pentax user. 🙂
Having trouble understanding English Syntax? The rumour (and it still does exist) is that the Fuji interchangeable lens model will be an X100 clone and/or that it will be a full Leica compatible rival. (Note: arash m …. just in time for them to announce their interchangeable lens mirrorless system a-la X100!)
If you read my words above CAREFULLY and CORRECTLY (plus consult Fuji’s press release notes) you, like myself, might be aware that it may still be a more Nex style release or an even smaller, consumer style, Nikon 1 compact sensor model.
Anticipation that Fuji has a Leica FF killer in the pipeline is THE RUMOUR …. not that they have announced one, you $@*@!
Want to borrow my Windex to clean your eyeglasses – then you can go find an English grammar primer?
By the great god Steve Jobs, give me strength to deal with these ‘… danged fools ……’

Thank you for your reply
what “I” was referring to with my first comment was that the X100 maybe available now, but I’m sure some people will now not buy and hold out for a interchangeable version of the X100.
Again personally speaking I don’t own any leica lenses, so the mount is not super important to me, Frankly I just want a few primes for the new camera and I’ll be super happy!
Based on the Fuji press material and the “Fuji Guy” tweet today, I’m sure the sensor is going to be APS-c or slightly larger….
I guess we have to wait and see….. I hate waiting 🙂

Hi arash – it wasn’t your original post but “Mark” and his ‘ …. they have already announced it …’ comment I was responding to – I share your enthusiasm as an X100 owner – I too would like to see an X100 clone with interchangeable lens – particularly if M mount and/or full-frame!
Sadly, the suggestion is that Fuji are possibly ‘not signing from the same hymn sheet’ – their info that it will outdo “most DSLRs” suggests it is not gonna be full frame at all and possibly not even APS sized.
No-one really knows ….
Worst case scenario is they combine the X10 body with Nikon 1 type concept – sub APS sensors and teeny lenses – to attract trendy consumer market. Yukkk!
Despite recent Fuji Guys claims, Fuji ARE members of 4/3rd cartel – perhaps a bit of distraction there, some ‘smoke & mirrors’ in that tweet. They might choose to go with rebadged or re-engineered bodies from one of the existing participants (e.g. Olympus/Panny) with Fuji built lenses … appealing, but still not Leica/X100 clones.
The X100 is of ‘leaf shutter in lens’ design so currently unsuited to interchanging of lenses. Fuji COULD possibly employ a shutter over the sensor and adapt the current body to accept fixed mount lenses but I think it unlikely they would do so – very difficult & expensive to pull off.
The X100 concept really requires complete re-engineering to work.
Current X100 uses tweaked Sony technologies, so a distinct possibility is the older Nex 3 or 5 guts (have convenient internal shutters) forming the basis of a new interchangeable range.
If Fuji is really targeting serious snappers (we can’t be sure) the last option – a revamped Nex in a Leica style body – would be easiest for Fuji to achieve from both financial and production standpoints – but who can say?
I don’t think Fuji will want to give too much away until the goods are ready to go – no matter which format they choose.
That’s why the Leica/X100 clone with interchangeable lenses still remains a rumour until January (on current timescales)
lol
just in time for them to announce their interchangeable lens mirrorless system a-la X100!
