The Fogg B-Laika Camera Bag Video Review
Hey ho, lets go! It is Tuesday and just realized I never posted the Fogg B-Laika bag review video I did yesterday nor did I let many of you know of the E-P3 video samples I posted in the review a couple days ago. So here they are! Oh, and my rocking’ intro music for the bag review is a one time thing, so don’t get too excited 🙂 I know you will want to get up and dance so feel free. Lol.
The Fogg B-Laika Luxury Camera Bag – The best of the best (if that is your thing)
You can buy this bag at tamarkin.com

and I added this to the Olympus E-P3 review to show the video quality and the Jello effect in some of the shots. I did find out if you DISABLE Image Stabilization then the video does NOT have the Jello Effect. I have to say, I am still shooting the E-P3 with the 12mm and it is one hell of a combo. I will be posting a “Crazy Comparison” tomorrow between it and the M9 and 24 Summilux! Woohoo!

Hi Steve,
I just ordered the Fogg encore bag. I wanted a bag that can also carry an iPad and while bee suggested the bsharp I went with the less padded, and slimmer, encore. Like many, I have number of camera/modified messenger bags. I really like concept of purchasing gear that will last decades.

Love my Fogg! Just wish they were a tad less expensive 🙂
Great review. I just picked up a Fogg BSharp bag which is very similar to the B-Laika.
I replaced a Think Tank Retrospective 5 with this. I grew to rapidly really dislike the TTR5 bag. It’s ridiculously heavy empty – about 12ozs more than the B Sharp and almost 1 lb heavier than the B Laika. But the thing I liked least about it was the fact that there are large open gaps on both ends when the bag is loaded, which allows dust/water etc to enter.
You also have the choice of really noisy velcro keeping it closed, or nothing if you use the velcro silencers. Which means the top flap is left unsecured.
Billingham bags, as well as Foggs, use leather straps with brass knobs which are rapid, silent and secure.
The Fogg is incredibly well made and looks (and smells!) it too. You really do get what you pay for. Some people may say the high end look draws attention but here’s the thing. If you are carrying around any kind of bag, it draws attention. It obviously contains something of value, and the moment you pull a camera out, no matter how ratty the bag looks, your cover is blown.
It’s like having a nylon wallet or a leather wallet. They both contain money!
Anyway, if you can afford it, it is worth it.
Hi, and thanx for your reviews.
I am looking forward to buy an e-pm1 with the underwater case, because it is actually the cheapest m4/3 underwater combo on the market and surprisingly not the least one.
But I was stopped by all the critics regarding the jello effect on the HD video mode.
Are you really 100% sure that it disappears as soon as you disable the IS?
Also, what lens would you recommend with the e-pm1 for underwater photography (wide angle and macro)?
thank you very much
Cyril
Hey Steve.
Slightly off topic, but what strap are you using on your M9-P please?
I’m looking for a good cross chest strap and it looks like you may be using what I’m after.
Thanks
no more music please…nice bag
P.S.
Maybe a famous Leica singer could stear some of his talents to you………….
Greetings, Ed
I know a guy who carries around his D3x in a shopping bag……..sometimes photographers could do with a little Batesian mimicry…………or to put it in the words of Rene Magrite “Ceci n’est pas une camera”. Expensive camerabag = even more expensive mugging.
Greetings, Ed
I am using National Geographic bag for my M9 and very happy with it . But I never saw it recommended . Wonder why ?
Hi Steve
Great review and yes the workmanship is very good on the Fog bags. This version also comes in slate fabric with Havana leather, now there’s a smart bag. Me I can only afford the Billingham and you are right about the cramped insides of the Hadley Pro.
Thanks Peter
I agree with Frank, please…never ever…use that intro music again. Ever.
P.S. Great review as always, keep up the great work!
Cool music!
Thanks for the Fogg bag review. These bags have intrigued me for a while and I’ve not seen a video of one before. Just one request for the future….
Please refrain from using the “Steve Huff Photo…. Steve Huff Photo dot com” song in the future…
Thanks!
Yep.
