Shops in India with my Leica Q
By SAB Photo – His GOOGLE + is HERE
This photo project is documenting a few small shops of West Bengal, India. The photo’s are not arranged, no extra light are used. The equipment is only one single compact camera, the Leica Q with its 28mm fixed lens. Taken like snaps, like a tourist visiting tourist spots, but the differences are the motives. The motives are the shops, the owner’s, employee’s, customers, suppliers, surroundings and visitors. Retail markets and shops have a very ancient history, dating back to antiquity. Over the centuries, retail shops were transformed from little more than “rude booths” to the sophisticated shopping malls.
Retailing in India is one of the pillars of its economy. The Indian retail market is estimated to be one of the top five retail markets in the world by economic value. India is one of the fastest growing retail markets in the world. India’s retailing industry are essentially small shops. Larger format convenience stores and supermarkets accounted were present only in large urban centers. India’s retail and logistics industry employs about 40 million Indians.

Very nice shots
Wonderful images
Must say I like your “snaps” – thank you
It also shows the importance of having a theme
I really enjoyed seeing how you worked with 28mm. For me the colour images are best for this subject, but your last image makes a lot of sense in mono.
images looks great..
and its an interesting subjects.. thanks for sharing
thanks for inspiring feedback
Nice images thanks
Beautiful work
While I really enjoyed the imagery, what really intrigued me was that you stuck with just a single camera and lens. As former working news photographer, I used to carry an assortment of lenses, both zooms and primes, in order to get the job done. Now retired, I am following in the footsteps of Cartier-Bresson and using just a Fuji X100S with the TCL-X100 attached to give a 50mm focal length.
Keep up the good work! Really enjoyed the series posted here!
Thanks.
Planning some 50mm myselves. Went to your pages. Love it!!
Well done!
Captured very well…
Terrific shots. Were the Black and white worked on in post production or Jpegs out of camera? Thanks
